Study in Anhui

Anhui's educational and financial regulators jointly launched a scheme to revitalize the province's higher education. Under the scheme, the province will set up six to eight local universities and 20 model vocational colleges by 2020. Also, a batch of subjects will be improved to better serve the province's leading industries and strategic emerging industries. Some of them, the Department of Education said, should develop so well that they can be ranked among the top in the country.The educational and financial departments also plan to appropriate funds to build or renovate teaching and research facilities including labs, research centers, e-libraries, teaching and research networks. Universities and colleges in Anhui will be encouraged to recruit renowned teachers from beyond the province, and also to endeavor to nurture their existing faculty into a nationally or even globally known one, according to the plan. In addition, the plan called for cooperation and exchanges between a minimum of 50 institutions of higher learning in the province and overseas prestigious universities.

Anhui Agricultural University

Anhui Agricultural University locates in Hefei, a famous historic city known as the hometown of Bao Zheng (the distinguished justice in the Song Dynasty) and noted as a base of scientific research and higher education of China. Anhui Agricultural University, the only agricultural university of the province, is a historic and comprehensive university with a broad social impact. The university dates back to the Provincial Anhui University founded in Anqing in 1928, whose predecessor, the College of Agronomy, attached to the university, was founded in 1935. It became independent from the Provincial Anhui University and was renamed Anhui Agricultural College after moving to Hefei in 1954. In 1995, Anhui Agricultural College was renamed Anhui Agricultural University. The university covers an area of 210 hectares with a total building space of 770,000 square meters. And the total value of instruments for teaching and scientific research adds up to 220 million Yuan.

Anhui Medical University

As a key provincial university, Anhui Medical University is a medical institution with the longest history in Anhui province. Since its foundation in 1926, Anhui Medical University has accumulated a profound historical background. At present, there are 18,000 undergraduates on two campuses. There are 25 teaching institutions including School of International Education. Different undergraduate programs and courses are being offered in 32 special fields of study. The university has been authorized to establish 3 post-doctorial scientific research programs, to grant doctorial degrees in 27 specialities, and to award master's degrees in 74 specialities. Anhui Medical University now has 5 directly affiliated hospitals and 6 non-directly affiliated hospitals. In recent years, Anhui Medical University has been far ahead of other provincial universities in terms of the total amount of grants from NSFC (Natural Science Foundation of China).

Anhui Normal University

Founded in 1928, Anhui Normal University (ANU) is one of the oldest institutes of higher learning established in Anhui Province. With its location in Wuhu City which is well-known as a land of rice and fish and nested in the southern bank of the world famous Yangtze River, Shanghai and Nanjing. ANU is widely acknowledged as one of the key provincial universities with natural charms of southern Anhui and famous talents from Anhui. ANU is now composed of 18 colleges, offering a complete and systematic student cultivation system which varies at different degree levels from bachelor to doctors and in different forms from full-time higher education, adult higher education to international education. ANU has now developed into a comprehensive full-fledged university that provides subject studies in literature, history, philosophy, economics, administration, laws, science, engineering, pedagogy and etc.

Anhui University

Anhui University, the only key comprehensive provincial institution, is located in Hefei, the beautiful capital city of Anhui Province. Founded in 1928 in Anqing and moved to Hefei in 1958, Anhui University is now a developing higher institution supported by the government under the State “211 Project”. Anhui University covers an area of about 207 hectares. Its library has a collection of more than 1.75 million books and over 7,000 Chinese and foreign periodicals, and it is equipped with a campus computer network. With beautiful scenery, the environment of the campus is very fine. Anhui University consists of 26 schools, 77 undergraduate specialties, 148 master degree programs, 50 Ph.D. programs, and 5 Postdoctoral Research Station. The University has a teaching staff of more than 1500, among whom more than 800 are professors or associate professors. The student population totals more than 31,000, among whom 21000 are undergraduate students and 6000 are postgraduate students. The university attaches great importance to the international exchange and cooperation. Now, it has entered into agreements with 95 overseas institutions. It began to accept foreign students in 1980. It is authorized by the Ministry of Education to enroll international students who enjoy Chinese government's scholarships. It was designated by Overseas Chinese Affairs Office under the State council the Teaching Base for Chinese Language and Culture in 2000.Students from more than 40 countries have been admitted to study at the university. International students are warmly welcomed to study and conduct research at Anhui University!

Anhui University of Chinese Medicine

Anhui University of Chinese Medicine was founded in 1959, it is a multidisciplinary higher institution with traditional Chinese medicine as its focus； it also touches the fields of technology, engineering, management and economics. The university has become a major base for scientific research, medical service and the teaching of TCM at a higher education level within Anhui province. There are over 10，000 undergraduate and junior college students as well as over 700 graduates. It has 31 Master's Degree and 29 undergraduate major programs. There are 12 schools, 2 direct affiliated hospitals, 4 indirect affiliated hospitals and 10 TCM scientific research institutes in AHUTCM. The Exhibition Hall of Xin'an Medical Thought School, the Sample Center of Chinese Herbs, the Garden of Medical Herbs, the TCM Clinic with famous Chinese physicians, and the Storing Room of Ancient Chinese Medical Books are all visited by hundreds of overseas guests per year. AHUTCM has set up friendly cooperation relationships with over 30 overseas medical or educational institutions. Since 1994, it has been authorized to enroll international students. Owing to its high quality education and mature administration, an increasing number of students from all over the world are attracted. Many students from other countries and areas have chosen to pursue their Bachelor's or Master's Degree, or clinical internships at AHUTCM. From 2002, the university has been ing undergraduates to study in South Korea, Sweden and Japan. Meanwhile, more and more teachers and experts are invited to go abroad for teaching TCM.

Anhui University of Finance and Economics

Anhui University of Finance and Economics (AUFE), founded in 1959，one of the key universities in Anhui Province, is oriented to the disciplines of economics, management and law, coupled with those of literature, science, engineering, history and arts, with the right to grant bachelor's degrees and master's degrees. AUFE consists of 11 schools, 2 departments, and 54 undergraduate programs. AUFE has a total faculty of 1428 （990 professional teachers）, and boasts 29000 full-time undergraduates and 1800 postgraduates. The teaching and sports facilities are well-equipped, student apartments are with good service, learning conditions are favorable, and living environment is elegant. The dining canteens have been certified by ISO－9000 quality standard and won the honorary title of "100 best canteens in China". AUFE vigorously exchanges and cooperates with the outside world. Undergraduates and postgraduates study programs are designed for international students.

Hefei University of Technology

Hefei University of Technology (HFUT), founded in 1945, one of the key universities as well as the member universities of the “Project 211” in China, is directly subordinate to the Ministry of Education of China. Located in Hefei City, one of the four largest science and education cities of China, HFUT covers 200 hectares. Now it has 17 schools and departments, 46 research institutes, 25 key research bases at the provincial and ministry level, 53 well-equipped laboratories and 139 internship bases off campus. In the University, there are more than 1,800 full-time teachers and researchers, among them over 60% are professors or associate professors. Now, HFUT enrolls over 31,800 full-time students, including over 24,000 undergraduates and 7,800 candidates for master's or doctoral degrees. The University has established friendly partnership with more than 60 well-known universities all over the world.

Huangshan University

Huangshan University is located in Huangshan, Anhui province, a picturesque city famous for tourist attractions including two World Natural and Cultural Heritage sites. Huangshan Mountain and a rich regional culture --- Huizhou Culture are making this land miraculous. Tourism management, environment science as well as Huizhou culture research are the school's major disciplines, both in teaching and research in the process of sorting out its domestic advantages. At present, Huangshan University boasts two campuses within the city, totaling about 117.45 hectares, and currently enrolls 17,000 full-time undergraduates. The university is made up of 12 colleges with the Department of Ideological and Political Theory offering 51 majors covering arts, science, economy, pedagogy, engineering, agronomy, management, law, and literature. University of Science and Technology of China

University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) is under the jurisdiction of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). It was established in Beijing in 1958, and moved to Hefei, the capital city of Anhui province, in the early 1970's. It has been one of the first institutions included in China's "985 Program" and "Project 211", and the only university participating in the National Program for Knowledge Innovation. USTC has 15 schools, 30 departments, 8 national key programs of first-level disciplines, 4 national key programs of second-level disciplines, 2 programs with major national support, 20 programs with major provincial and ministerial support, and 34 national-level and CAS/provincial/ ministerial-level laboratories and research centers. USTC has 1,217 full-time teachers and 292 researchers, among whom 33 are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), 10 academicians of the Third World Academy of Sciences, 502 doctoral advisors, 505 professors and 675 associate professors. Of its 17,600 plus students, over 2,300 are doctoral students, over 8,100 are masters students, and more than 7,000 are undergraduate students. From 2000, USTC had joined Chinese Government Scholarship Programs (CGSP). Now there're 85 international students from 37 countries, among whom there're 76 degree-seeking students.
