Located in west Zhejiang province on the boundaries of Fujian, Jiangxi and Anhui provinces, Longyou county of Quzhou was once an important goods distribution center in ancient times.

The county's past prosperity left it with a rich cultural heritage. Gradually becoming isolated in the modern age, the cultural heritage of Longyou has been well kept.

Longyou brick carving can be traced back to the Qin Dynasty (221 BC-206 BC). The art form reached its peaked in the Ming and Qing dynasties (1368-1912) and can still be admired throughout Longyou county.
